The elaboration comprises statistical information characterizing, i. a., social, demographic, cultural and scientific potentials as well as natural environment conditions of the agglomeration area made up of 14 cities with powiat status, functioning since 2007 in the Śląskie Voivodship under the name of the Metropolitan Association of Upper Silesia (MAUS).

Each chapter includes territorially coherent tabular summaries presenting statistical data and indicators for the voivodship as well as the MAUS area. The analytical part of the elaboration is completed with thematic tables presenting internal differentiation of the agglomeration. A few years’ time retrospect  adopted in the overview table enables the observation of dynamics and directions of ongoing changes. The publication has been enriched with a graphic part in the form of maps and charts. For the purpose of comparison, the Metropolitan Association of Upper Silesia has been presented against the background of other metropolitan areas in Poland.
