An analytical publication developed for the purposes of monitoring the National Strategy of Regional Development 2030. The objective scope of the publication enables effective identification of the development needs of the voivodship and supports regional analyses made to monitor the assumptions of public policy. Statistical data is presented in several thematic chapters characterising the area and territorial division of the voivodship, the condition of the environment, the social potential, including human capital and the quality of life of the inhabitants, the broadly understood economy, including gross domestic product, entrepreneurship, production and services, as well as development management, including spatial planning covering the issues of spatial development and revitalisation of gminas.

The analytical part of the publication is preceded by a synthesis presenting the basic changes taking place in individual social and economic areas. Selected data categories are presented in relation to the whole country. The analytical commentary is enriched with a tabular and graphic form of data presentation in the time retrospective 2015–2023. For a more complete depiction of territorial diversity, selected statistical information is presented at the level of powiats and gminas. An important part of the Report is also constituted by overview tables containing selected data on the Śląskie Voivodship and Katowice in the years 2015–2023 and on cities with powiat status for the last available year.

In the current edition of the Report, quarterly data on the economic activity of the population aged 15–89 on the basis of the Labour Force Survey for 2021–2023 have been generalised on the basis of resident population balances compiled on the basis of the National Population and Housing Census 2021. In addition, statistical information on the employed in the national economy has been published for the first time on the basis of administrative data sources.
